About Our Community Outreach Porgram

Title

The Whisker Society (TWS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to a dual mission: hosting adoptable cats and enriching human ones. We partner with local adoption organizations to host adoptable cats in our comfortable, enriching lounge. This creates more room and opportunity for other cats in need, while offering cats in our lounge a peaceful place to thrive.

We believe that the healing power of a cat’s companionship should be accessible to everyone. Our dedicated Community Outreach Program bridges the gap between our rescue felines and individuals who face unique life challenges. We created intentional space tailored for groups that may not otherwise be able to visit our cat lounge.

What A Non-Profit Visit Might Look Like:

We'll discuss how we came to be, what we do, and how we partner with other organizations to help cats find their home. We also offer the opportunity to interact with our cats through:

Gentle Socialization: Spending quiet moments next to a sleeping cat, sharing lap time, or simply enjoying the soothing sound of a loud purr to combat loneliness.

Interactive Play: Using feather wands, laser pointers, or soft toys to engage with energetic cats, encouraging movement and laughter without requiring strenuous physical effort.

Quiet Companionship: Reading out loud to our shy or older cats, creating a peaceful, judgment-free space that builds confidence for the reader and socializes the feline.

Education Focus: As a force-free, fear-free organization we educate groups on how
to best understand and live cohesively with our feline friends.

Age Requirement:

All participants must be 18 years & older

Applicable Groups:

Our Community Outreach program is limited to other non-profit organizations. If you are not part of a non-profit but have a group of people interested in visiting our lounge, you can schedule a booking for the lounge during our regular business hours.

Cost:

$50 per group per session.

Number of Attendees:

We can accommodate up to 10 people per visit. This limit helps us keep the atmosphere calm, manage liability, and maintain a comfortable ratio of visitors to cats.

Available Booking Days & Times:

Monday’s are reserved for community outreach programs in 50-minute sessions between 11am - 4pm. TWS will consider other days and times based on our booking schedule and availability.

Book in Advance:

We ask that you provide a 3 week notice prior to your visit.
